Course Overview - RCA and Action Plan

Eventually, all manufacturing processes will experience problems with non-conforming parts, equipment failure resulting in lost productivity or rework expenses, and possible increased scrap. Even with the best quality systems, training, and Statistical Process Control (SPC), problems can happen. What must be prevented are the repeat problems. The problems you thought were resolved only to reoccur. Repeat problems can be experienced in everyday life. If you compare a manufacturing process to a garden, the process problems would be the weeds in the garden. If you pull up a dandelion and don’t get the entire root it will just keep popping back up. It is much the same manufacturing problems – if you don’t get to the root cause of the problem, it is eventually (if not frequently) going to re-occur. The goal of a Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is to get down to the true cause of the problem, the root cause.

Our Capabilities

The training provides a clear understanding regarding the activities of Correction, Corrective Action and Preventive Actions and the difference between the Terms. This training explains, with examples, the guidelines for carrying Preventive Actions through Risk Based Approach for potential problems and Corrective Actions through an effective Root Cause Analysis process whenever problems are encountered/ complaints are reported to enable organizations to Ensure action against each root cause.

The Approach

Course Objective is to provide a sound knowledge of problem-solving techniques to the participants and Certify them as professionals in the activity of Root
Cause Analysis, which will help them to:

§ Improve their skills regarding analysis of problems
§ Improve the quality of processes in their organization
§ Improve consistency of quality of goods and services
§ Establish a proactive culture of prevention and improvement
§ Enhance customer satisfaction

Value Advantage

A problem has been detected Everyone sees pieces of the true picture Many pieces could be assumptions, not facts Each piece generates theories and supporting evidence is gathered Each theory is consistent with its piece and so becomes “worth looking into” This feels right because everyone’s doing something to solve the problem.
